Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) is an option for homeowners who want to maintain or control the growth of trees. PGR redistributes growth from the canopy to the tree’s root system. The increased size of the root system improves the tree’s ability to mine the soil for minerals, nutrients and water. This increase in root density also helps trees handle heat and drought conditions that are all too common in today’s environment. Leaves of trees treated with PGR are thicker, which can offer increased resistance to insects and disease. PGR also is used for trees that have construction damage and in conjunction with Iron for trees that have Iron Deficiencies. Trees that have limited space allotted for them in areas adjacent to your home, near utility lines, driveways and sidewalks are all good candidates for PGR.
